Mermaiding and freediving have been around longer than the certifications for these activities. However some of what you learn may be inconsistent, unsafe, or outdated. Taking a certification class allows you to safely learn new skills or build upon existing knowledge to ensure that you're performing to industry standard. It also shows to other entities, like public pools who may not have experiencing working with mermaids, that you have training and know what you're doing.
Students currently can obtain their PADI Discover Mermaid, Basic Mermaid, and Mermaid certifications. Advanced Mermaid to be coming soon!
For our PADI classes, you do not need experience swimming in a monofin, but you or your child must know how to swim.
For our Intro to Mermaiding classes, you can still transform into a mermaid for your dry land photos if you don't know how to swim. We will stay on the shallow end of the pool/beach where you can stand up at any time. You may be in a monofin if you wish, but we will not put a tail skin on due to safety.
